United Kingdom London 25-27 September 2026

What the Laver Cup is

The Laver Cup is an international men's team tennis competition that brings six players from Europe together against six players representing the rest of the world. The 2026 edition takes place at The O2 in London from 25 to 27 September. Unlike a conventional knockout tournament, the Laver Cup is played across five sessions over three days and combines singles and doubles. Matches become progressively more valuable as the weekend develops: one point for each win on Friday, two on Saturday and three on Sunday. The first team to reach 13 points wins the Laver Cup. That format changes the atmosphere considerably. Players who normally compete against one another spend the weekend on the same bench, with captains, teammates and doubles combinations becoming part of the spectacle rather than tennis being centred solely on individual progression through a draw.

What is unique about the Laver Cup

Unlike traditional tennis tournaments, the Laver Cup brings individual rivals together as teammates, with captains, courtside interaction and an electric indoor atmosphere adding to the competition. London holds a special place in Laver Cup history. Roger Federer played his final professional match alongside Rafael Nadal at The O2 in 2022, the same arena hosting the 2026 edition. With leading players including Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz, the event combines world-class tennis with the excitement of team rivalry, all within one concentrated London weekend
